The 5 days of the Design Sprint.
If a user cannot figure out how to sign up, change their password, or get to their shopping cart, then there is a clear problem with the UX and it may cause the user to leave your site without taking the actions you would like them to take. An effective UX smoothly guides a user through a website or an application. If it is done well, your company will reap the rewards of this for years. User experience is not purely about positioning blocks and creating layouts.
Day 1. Mapping.
Our team workshop together, in what we like to call a scrum, mapping out your product or service, exploring the challenges and immediately achievable goals. We define the routes between the problems and direct solutions, creating focal points in preparation for the next leg of the design sprint. We also take the time to research the target market, exploring the journey of your potential customers from start to finish, giving us insight from a consumer’s perspective, allowing us to prepare a more successful prototype at the end of the design sprint. Essentially, the workshop takes a look at the business process and prepares a form of business analysis for the conceptualisation of the idea.
Day 2. Sketch.
During the second phase, we remix and improve the concepts discovered during the mapping session. The scrum will use business analysis and design thinking to take a look at other similar or related products and services, brainstorming and planning a rough picture of their ideas to be presented to the decision maker during the following phase. The scrum master will manage a voting and decision process on the sketched ideas to be presented.
Day 3. Decide.
Decision day is an important benchmark during the design sprint process. It presents you with an idea of what to look forward to and gives us valuable feedback to take the next steps and prepare the prototype. A selection of ideas prepared on a storyboard gives you perspective and allows you a sneak preview of the conceptualised ideas and features in the making.
Day 5. Test.
We revert to agile framework during the testing phase, using the review and feedback from real users to iterate, providing new and improved sketches delivering fully analysed, validated ideas and prototypes.
