Avis Fleet is a big name when it comes to fleet management as a whole. Their staff carries out hundreds of inspections on fleet vehicles daily and they wanted to optimise this process. That’s where we came in.

The Project.

Inspections on fleet vehicles is a routine process that needs to happen on a regular basis. Prior to the implementation of the JustSolve solution, every inspection had to involve an agent being sent out to do a routine inspection. We came up with a solution to allow routine self-inspections of fleet vehicles by fleet owners and drivers in a nicely packaged app with custom illustrations and integration.

The Challenge.

Reduce Burden on Internal Staff

Avis Fleet wanted to reduce the burden on their internal vehicle inspectors, who would carry out inspections of vehicles across the country.

Leverage Existing Investments

To avoid duplication of information and context switching, the application had to integrate with Avis Fleet’s own AS400 system.

New Customer Experiences

Avis Fleet wanted to create a platform where their customers could perform self-inspections on their own vehicles and log their odometer readings.

Our UX/UI Strategy Approach.

Step by Step Visual Processes

We broke down the inspection process into distance sections, and gave the inspectors a clear idea of how far along they were in the process with nice illustrative guides.

Clear Binary Decisions

The inspectors were often working in direct sunlight, and struggled to see the tiny Yes/No options clearly. We made sure the two decision options were large and clear.

Pre-Populated Issue Options

We found that if there was an issue with a vehicle, the issue was noted with free text. We grouped the most frequently used answers so that the inspectors could simple select and move on.

Our Implementation Approach.

Centricity Solution

After completing the UX work, the team proposed white labelling an existing solution ‘Centricity’ to facilitate the inspections and odometer reports.

X-Layer Integration

We integrated Centricity with Avis Fleet’s systems using an integration layer called X-Layer, meaning all data captured in Centricity was instantly available on the back-office systems.

Simplified Workflow

Our business analysts and process authors broke down the existing process into a simplified version, with the aim to reduce inspection times by half.

It is refreshing to find a solution framework/platform that truly delivers on its promise. The speed of delivery, ease of configuration and flexibility of change of the Centricity Platform was to say the least, remarkable.

Anytime inspections

Avis Fleet customers can log an inspection of their own vehicle whenever convenient, meaning an inspection doesn’t need to be manually arranged saving operational costs.

No Training Required

The step by step process has been set-up in such a way that no training is required to understand what must be done. Simple, quick and easy for everyone involved.

Fleet Management

Avis Fleet can track and manage all data captured during vehicle inspections so they are always kept up to date on the status of their fleet.
