The purpose of this project, commissioned by a global trading and logistics company, was to streamline agricultural trading and shipping by replacing inefficient communication methods with a centralised platform. This solution aims to automate manual processes, reduce delays, and enhance real-time communication, improving efficiency and visibility across the supply chain.

Our Development Approach:
Our approach was to use the power of Mendix native functionality to deliver a responsive web application that also gives mobile users a mobile application experience whilst adhering to Mendix best practices. Separating code into relevant modules ensures we keep the code base clean and manageable. We created a custom styling module to ensure that any custom styling can be exported to any other application for the client. We made custom templates and menus inheriting from the native Atlas UI components for the mobile-specific pages. We made a simple workflow-like process, along with the built-in role-based access, to ensure users can access the data accordingly based on the different statuses of a request, simplifying the back end and screen design for this feature.
Our UI Approach:
Our UI approach for this project prioritised speed and efficiency. Given the tight one-month timeline, we primarily leveraged Mendix's out-of-the-box AtlasUI components and layouts to rapidly construct the application's interface. While this approach expedited development, it also limited the level of customisation we could achieve. However, using pre-built components ensured a consistent and functional user experience throughout the app. We incorporated custom CSS to fine-tune specific elements to align the app's appearance with the client's visual identity. Using Mendix and Miro, we leveraged Mendix's low-code capabilities to rapidly develop a robust, tailored solution for the project's needs. Miro complemented this process by enabling seamless collaboration and visual ideation among stakeholders, streamlining the planning and design phases. Together, these tools empowered us to deliver a solution that was both innovative and effective.
